Programs Highlights

The focus of this conference in 2008 is to positively impact patient outcomes by presenting health care professionals the most up-to-date clinical information and skills building opportunities. As an addition to WHICC this year, faculty will outline best practice steps for participants which can be used to improve patient outcomes. The conference now has a greater scientific focus and has been designed to allow for more interaction between faculty and participants. Specifically, participants will have the opportunity to engage with guest faculty in lecture formats, abstract-driven sessions, and roundtable discussions. Three tracks have been planned this year, based on participant surveys and new findings: Biomedical, Psych/Social and Policy/Advocacy; topics are identified as such in the conference agenda. WHICC is an opportunity for all providers, including physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, social workers and case managers to obtain state-of-the-art, evidence-based, multidisciplinary education on the care of women with HIV.

Overall objectives
• Integrate one best practice in current clinical setting to impact outcomes in HIV-infected women, children, and their families.
• Appraise two identified health disparities amongst women served in current setting.
• Discuss two empowerment strategies that will implement change to improve care for HIV+ women.
